On 19 February, 2009, An Post issued a stamp to celebrate Ireland's patron saint and national holiday.
The stamp and first day cover (FDC) were designed by Ger Garland. The stamp is based on a painting entitled St. Patrick Climbs Croagh Patrick by Margaret Clarke and is reproduced courtesy of Sara Bourke. The FDC shows Pilgrims Way, Croagh Patrick, Co.
