To celebrate Christmas 2008, The Republic of San Marino dedicates a philatelic set made up of three values of ˆ0,36 - 0,60 and 1,00.
In order to give continuity to the subjects depicted in the Christmas 2007 stamps, the designs are again by Josef Costazza. Last year, the artist used a wide chromatic range, whilst this year the colours are dominated by white and blue, which recall the San Marino flag.
The ˆ0,36 stamp depicts an angel playing a herald's trumpet, a messenger of peace announcing the coming of Christmas. The ˆ0,60 stamp depicts the Holy Family. The ˆ1,00 stamp shows an angel offering a gift, whilst in the background the towers of San Marino stand out against the sky.
