Bette Davis Gets a Stamp

Bette Davis Gets a Stamp

On September 18, 2008, at Boston University in Boston, Massachusetts, the U.S. Postal Service will issue a 42-cent Bette Davis commemorative stamp in one design in a pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) pane of 20 stamps. The stamp, designed by Richard Sheaff of Scottsdale, Arizona, goes on sale nationwide September 18, 2008.

With the issuance of this 14th stamp in the Legends of Hollywood series, artist Michael J. Deas of New Orleans, Louisiana, based his painting for the stamp on a black and white still of Bette Davis made during the filming of "All About Eve" (1950), in which Davis brilliantly portrayed aging Broadway star Margo Channing.
