Historic Indian reunion at Lord's

Historic Indian reunion at Lord's

Special commemorative cover for the 2008 reunion of India's 1983 Cricket World Cup team at Lord's. On 25th June 1983 Indian cricket came to the attention of the world. They beat the mighty West Indian team at Lord's Cricket Ground.

For the 40-1 outsiders this was an historic moment. It was a turning point for India to become a cricket superpower.

The commemorative cover was created by Bletchley park Post office in conjunction with Indian cricket historian Dr Boria Majumdar. It uses iconic images from India's 1983 World Cup campaign with the stamp cancelled on 25th June using the current BCCI logo. The team signed four covers; one will remain in the MCC Museum, whilst the others will be kept in India as mementos of this historic occasion.
