A Corral Drive Elementary School fifth-grader will be honored in the Veterans Day parade Sunday, Nov. 11.

Jake Mader beat out 67 others in the Patriotic Stamp Contest sponsored by the Rapid City Customer Advisory Council of the Rapid City Post Office.

Jake's stamp shows the Statue of Liberty holding her torch against the backdrop of a flag.

Students in third, fourth and fifth grades were encouraged to draw a patriotic-themed stamp and enter it to be judged. It was the first year for the contest.

Mader will receive a stamp-collecting kit for beginners, and his design will be displayed throughout town and distributed as the official stamp for the Wee Deliver program in the Rapid City area.

He will also ride in the parade sponsored by the VFW Post 1273 of Rapid City, SD, USA. It will start shortly after 11 a.m., after a moment of silence to honor fallen comrades.
