Australia: Historic Shipwrecks
Maritime culture has always been significant to Australia, but especially during the era of sea travel. The 19th century saw a flourishing of coastal and ocean voyaging, and this was accompanied by a lamentable increase in the number or shipwrecks. Australia Post's Historic Shipwrecks stamp issue features three of the most fateful shipwrecks to have occurred in Australian waters during the 19th century – the Admella, Loch Ard and Dunbar.
