New stamp features Italian donkeys
The Italian mail service Poste Italiane has announced that it will be issuing a new postage stamp on 22 September featuring Italy's seven protected donkey breeds. The animals featured are the "Romagnolo", "Martina Franca", "Ragusano", "Amiata", "Pantelleria", "Sardo" and "Asinara", named after the regions or localities where they originated. The stamp shows a donkey's head in a box in the top left-hand corner with the seven protected breeds represented along the bottom and down the right. It has a value of 60 cents – the basic postage rate for a postcard or letter – and 3.5 million copies will be printed.
