Scouts are the largest movement for children and young people in the world. 38 million members in over 200 countries of the world have a single aim: helping children and young people to become committed and critical adults. The organization welcomes people of all skin colors and all religious communities with a peaceful philosophy.

In the German-speaking countries, there are almost 500,000 members. If former scouts, i.e. adults who remain scouts throughout their lives thanks to the scouting promise, are included, there are today roughly 100 million members of the huge brotherhood living around the world, with roughly 2 million in Germany, Lichtenstein, Austria and Switzerland.
