The International Polar Year starts in the summer of 2007. On this occasion eight countries will be issuing minisheets with 2 stamps each. The motifs depict the projects these countries have been working on in the Arctic. The countries are: Iceland, Greenland, Canada, USA, Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland. The
Icelandic stamps depict a volcanic eruption in the Vatnajokull glacier and the Radio-Echo Soundings equipment being used to map the landscape beneath the ice-cap.
