Stamp portrait of football star

Stamp portrait of football star

Do you have a hobby? Stamp Collecting? Football? Well, Pete Mason does both, and in an attempt to combine them he's made a massive stamp portrait of one of football's biggest stars - just in time for the World Cup!

A Hednesford stamp collector known as the 'post pop-art man' has created a massive portrait of one of the biggest stars in football. In time for the World Cup, Captain of the England Team David Beckham has been immortalised in stamps!

Pete Mason said he designed the picture because he's such a big football fan, although he supports Walsall himself! But he also feels it will one day be a historical piece. As traditional mail is used less and less in favour of email, there may be a day when stamps are extinct.

It took one month, and 13,000 stamps to complete the art piece - all of which have been used, whether donated or bought. In David Beckham's eye there's a stamp of Bobby Moore lifting the World Cup in 1966 - Pete say's he's hoping Beckham will be doing the same in 2006!
