The International Association of the Editors of philatelic Catalogues and Publications has been meeting together for nearly 20 years in the Principality, upon the initiative of Mr. Alexander D. KROO, his general secretary from 1977 till 1996. Mr. KROO created the "GRAND-PRIX OF PHILATELY – ASCAT", which was given in the Principality to the Swiss Post, to the Prince Rainier III, to His Excellency Mr. SAMARANCH, President of the International Olympic Committee, to Bertrand PICCARD, to the football player FIGO and to H.R.H. the Princess Maria-Gabriella of Savoy. The Committee decided to give the Grand-Prix 2006 to Mr. KROO, President and Founder of the "Club de Monte-Carlo", for his contribution to the promotion of philately.
