Austria: Cars - Steyr 220

After World War I, the Austrian weapons factory in Steyr, founded by Josef and Franz Werndl in 1964 and now part of the Magna Group, was forbidden by the Treaty of Versailles to produce weapons. To save the works, the decision was made to switch to the manufacture of motor vehicles, a successful move that was soon followed in 1920 by the first Steyr car off the production line.
