The first Jerseyman to be awarded the Victoria Cross is marked with a Miniature Sheet containing one stamp.
Jersey Post celebrates 150 years of The Victoria Cross with this superb Miniature Sheet. The medal was created by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert to honour personal gallantry, no matter what the individual's grade and standing is. The medals are cast out of bronze taken from Chinese cannons that were used during the Crimean War by the Russians at Sevastopol. With 1355 medals now having been awarded, there is only enough of this metal left to make eighty further medals.
