Small Indigenous Animals (JUNASS 2005)

"We live in a country that is well known for its wildlife diversity. Examples of these are the big five, the various antelope species as well as bird and marine life. One area of our wildlife diversity that is often overlooked, is the small indigenous mammal. To create awareness of the beauty and importance of these animals in our ecology, the South African Post Office issued a set of six stamps on 15 July 2005"

The South African Post Office

Designed by Chris van Rooyen, the animals depicted are:

The lesser bushbaby (Galago moholi)
The Riverine Rabbit (Bunolagus monticularis)
The African Wildcat (Felis lybica)
The Steenbok (Raphicerus campestris)
The Cape Fox (Vulpes chama)
The Yellow Mongoose (Cynictis penicillata).
