Miguel de Cervantes, a Spanish adventurer fought in "Lepante" and in the service of the Grande Armada. Several times jailed, even excommunicated, he became courtier and mixed humour and satire in his novels and comedies. Don Quichotte and his faithful Sancho Panca are characters universally known.
