Iceland: The Circle - 100th Anniversary
Hringurinn – The Circle Women's Society – was founded January 26th 1904. There were 46 founders and the Society now numbers 309 members. Hringurinn is a charity organization and has mainly attended to the needs of sick children. The first major task of the Society was to assist poor women at childbirth. The biggest project the Society has undertaken was building a new and well equipped children's hospital in Reykjavik in conjunction with others.
