New stamp honours 50 years of the Quebec Winter Carnival

New stamp honours 50 years of the Quebec Winter Carnival

Canada Post invites all Canadians to celebrate the warmth of winter at one of Canada's premier tourist attractions. The Quebec Winter Carnival celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, and Canadians are invited to warm-up their mail by using a new stamp showcasing this great tourist attraction that attracts nearly one million visitors every year. The stamp will be issued on January 29th, on the eve of this year's Carnival, which runs from January 30 to February 15th.

The new domestic-rate (49c) stamp features one of the province's most beloved celebrities, Bonhomme Carnaval. The famous snowman is the ambassador of the Carnival and personifies the lively spirit of the event. As the first stamp issued in this year's Tourist Attractions series, 1.5 million of the stamps will be available for sale until January 28, 2005 or until they are sold out.
