Most expensive stamp of Switzerland
A world record was achieved at the world's largest stamp auction, which ended on Thursday, 27th November: The Rapp Auction House based in Wil (SG), Switzerland, sold a "Rayon I" stamp with completely framed cross dating back to 1850 for 348,000 Swiss francs (220,000 euros, 276,000 US dollars). It is thus the most expensive single Swiss stamp ever sold anywhere in the world.

'Concrete Art' stamps
Swiss Post has released two special stamps devoted to Concrete Art.
The term "concrete art" was first introduced by Theo van Doesburg in his "Manifesto of Concrete Art" (1930). In his understanding, this form of abstractionism must be free of any symbolical association with reality, arguing that lines and colors are concrete by themselves.

USPS honors Bob Hope with stamp
Bob Hope already has been named an "honorary veteran" by the U.S. government, but on Wednesday the U.S. Postal Service said it will give the late comedian another honor – a commemorative stamp.

Olympic History – Helsinki 1952
On 13 November 2006 the shared intention of the Hungarian Olympic Committee and Magyar Posta (Hungary Post) to celebrate the medal-winners of the summer Olympics held fifty years beforehand became reality through the issue of a stamp block, which at the same time fulfilled the hopes of collectors. The theme "Olympic History" is expanded every two years and in 2008 pays tribute to the medal winners of the Helsinki Olympics.

Holiday Stamps from Iceland
Earlier this year Post Iceland held a competition among primary school children for the designs of two Christmas stamps to be issued in 2008. The children were encouraged to use their imagination and creativity to design stamps that they would themselves want to use on their Christmas post in the spirit of the festivities. Two pupils in the 2nd class of Nesskoli in Neskaupsstadur won the competition.
The motifs consist of the Yule Goblin Stiff-Legs and the Christmas Cat.
