A New Face in an Age-long Tradition
The tender relationship between mother and child and a prayerful gesture by a young boy will help deliver the joy of Christmas this season. Featured on the 2008 Christmas stamp is the Virgin and Child with the Young John the Baptist painting by Italian master Sandro Botticelli.

This series of stamps was issued to commemorate the 90th anniversary from the World War I. 90.
The stamps illustrate the port of Menin in Ypres (the scene of the bitterest fighting during World War I), the statue of the king Albert I of Belgium and a flower of red poppy.

New stamp honors Edgar Allan Poe
Writer Edgar Allan Poe will be featured on a U.S. postage stamp early in 2009.
The 42-cent stamp will mark the 200th anniversary of the birth of poet and mystery writer Poe and will be issued Jan. 16 in Richmond, Va.
The Poe stamp is one of several issues for early in 2009 announced by the post office.

New Christmas stamps from Finland
Finland's Christmas stamps will be issued on 6 November. The designer of the stamps is Julia Vuori, who has charmed children and grown-ups alike with her adult uniqueness and childlike merriness in her illustrations for children's picture books and art books as well as her humorous animal cartoons. Perhaps her most famous cartoon character is Pig. For the Christmas stamps, Julia Vuori drew bears and other forest animals.

Christmas Stamps from San Marino
To celebrate Christmas 2008, The Republic of San Marino dedicates a philatelic set made up of three values of ˆ0,36 - 0,60 and 1,00.
In order to give continuity to the subjects depicted in the Christmas 2007 stamps, the designs are again by Josef Costazza. Last year, the artist used a wide chromatic range, whilst this year the colours are dominated by white and blue, which recall the San Marino flag.

Finland previews 2009 stamps
The new stamp year will open with a splendid miniature sheet commemorating the year 1809 and the birth of Finland's autonomy. The Building a Nation miniature sheet depicts Tsar Alexander I and Finns who contributed to building a nation: G. M. Sprengtporten, C. E. Mannerheim and G. M. Armfelt.
At the same time in the beginning of the year, a stamp about hospitals' work and a booklet of six stamps about multicultural Finland will be issued.

Stamps around the world to promote protection of polar regions and glaciers
In 2009, Finland, Chile and about 40 other countries will issue stamps on climate change. The common theme is Preserve the Polar Regions and Glaciers.
