New postage stamp honors Oregon's Sesquicentennial
The artwork selected for the 2009 postage stamp to honor Oregon's Sesquicentennial was unveiled at the state capitol Tuesday, August 19th. Governor Ted Kulongoski, who was on hand, says the stamp "truly captures the beauty of Oregon".

Iceland to mark International Year of Planet Earth
Iceland Post will issue a special souvenir sheet on Sept. 18 to commemorate the International Year of Planet Earth.
The image of Iceland on the souvenir sheet was taken from the polar orbiting satellite Terra (EOS AM-1), owned by NASA.

Uruguay issues stamps featuring Beijing Olympics
Uruguay has issued a set of Beijing Olympics-themed postage stamps.
According to Correo.com.uy, "the set of stamps, inspired by the Beijing Olympic mascot Fu Wa, displays the lasting combination between stamps and sports as embodying the notions of peace, harmony and development that are cherished by all nations."

New spaghetti postage stamp
A special postage stamp dedicated to the annual "spaghetti all'amatriciana" festival in the town of Amatrice in northeast Lazio will be released on 29 August. It will be part of the "Made in Italy" series of stamps issued by Poste Italiane and follows on the heels of the stamp dedicated to "Zafferano dell' Aquila" (saffron from L'Aquila), which was released on 26 July.

The four members of Australia's victorious women's freestyle relay team are the latest Olympians to feature on a stamp.
Stephanie Rice, Bronte Barratt, Kylie Palmer and Linda Mackenzie grabbed the gold at the Beijing Olympics yesterday, beating the Chinese and American teams in world record time.

Finland Post issues stamps to honour Mika Waltari and Kimi Raikkonen

Gold medalist Rice to be honored with stamp
Australian swimming gold medalist Stephanie Rice has stamped her mark on the Beijing Olympics and will now her make on a stamp in her home country.
Rice, 20, won the women's 400 meter individual medley Sunday and from Tuesday will be the first Australian gold medalist from Beijing to appear on a postage stamp.
