100th Anniversary of the National Bank

International Women's Day to be marked
Austria Post is to issue a new stamp on 8 March to coincide with International Women's Day.
The stamp, entitled 'No Violence Against Women' features a harrowing image designed to raise awareness of the abuse, particularly physical, that women continue to suffer. Statistics show that one Austrian woman in five is the victim of violence at some stage in their life.

Gibraltar: Royal Diamond Wedding Anniversary
Elizabeth's engagement to Lieutenant Philip Mountbatten was announced by King George VI in Buckingham Palace on July 10th 1947. Before the wedding, Elizabeth's father gave Philip the British titles Duke of Edinburgh, Earl of Merioneth, and Baron Greenwich. The couple, who had known each other since Elizabeth was 13 and Philip was 18, were married in Westminster Abbey, London on 20 November 1947. They spent their honeymoon at Broadlands, Hampshire, the home of Lord Mountbatten, and at Birkhall, Balmoral.
The stamps and miniature sheet feature official photographs of the Royal Engagement in 1947, Royal Wedding in 1947, Silver Anniversary in 1972 and Ruby Anniversary in 1987.

New stamps from Finland
This year marks the 450th anniversary of the death of Bishop Mikael Agricola, a reformer of the Finnish church and the "father of Finnish literature". Finland Post will issue a miniature sheet with two stamps to commemorate the jubilee year of Agricola on 7 March. On the same date, stamps marking the centenaries of the Central Organisation of Finnish Trade Unions and the Football Association of Finland will be issued, as well as an Easter stamp and stamp depicting a candlestick lily.

100 Years of Women's Rights
When the Icelandic Women's Society was founded in 1907 women in general did not have voting rights. The Society put great emphasis on strengthening the status of women and ensuring their voting rights and equality with men in all spheres of social life. The Society's first chairwoman was Briet Bjarnhedinsdottir. In December 1887 she held the first official lecture ever given by a woman in Iceland. Its title was: "A Lecture on the Rights and Interests of Women."

Iceland: West Nordic Council
The West Nordic Council was formed in 1985 and serves as advisory and administrative body of the governments and parliaments of the Faroes, Greenland and Iceland. Now, for the first time, these countries are issuing a joint stamp issue. The theme is renewable energy with geothermal power being the motif of the Icelandic stamp. Protecting the resources and culture of the Westnordic countries, strengthening their consultation and furthering interests are among the main aims of the West Nordic Council.

Gibraltar: 50th Anniversary Treaty of Rome
The Treaty of Rome established the European Economic Community (EEC) and was signed by France, West Germany, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg on March 25, 1957. The flags of these six countries are featured on the stamps together with the signatures of the dignitaries that signed on behalf of each the countries the Treaty of Rome in 1957. The sheet is ultra modern and features an image of a female eye bearing yellow stars over a blue iris recalling the EU flag identity.

The Trawler Jon forseti
January 1907 marked a turning point in the history of Icelandic fisheries when Jon forseti, a new 230 BRT trawler, arrived at Reykjavik harbour. The trawler was owned by the Alliance fishing company and it was the first distant-water trawler to be built for Icelanders.

International Polar Year
