Austria: New Year's Concert 2007 - Zubin Mehta
Zubin Mehta was born in Bombay/Mumbai on 29 April 1936, and grew up in a Parsi family. It was his father, a concert violinist and founder of the Bombay Symphony Orchestra, that he received his first musical education, thereby acquiring a familiarity with European classical music. After two semesters studying medicine, he decided to devote his entire attention to music.

Austria: Spring Flowers
The common beech (Fagus sylvatica L.) with its smooth, high silvery trunk often forms entire forests of its own, but also occurs together with sycamore, fir, spruce, hornbeam, oak and other trees. Its habitat is moist well ventilated and well drained basic to acid soils. With its flat roots, it can gain a hold on shallow soil, and is home to a wide variety of herbs and shrubs.

Winter Landscape voted Most Beautiful Stamp of the Year 2006 in Finland
Winter Landscape, which depicts a snowy forest scene, has won the vote for the Most Beautiful Stamp of the Year 2006 in Finland. Winter Landscape is a 1st class non-value indicator stamp and it was issued on 11 January 2006. The stamp was designed by Susanna Rumpu and Ari Lakaniemi. The winner got 10,429 votes.

International Polar Year
2007 has been declared International Polar Year (IPY). The Arctic Nations have joint to celebrate IPY with a joint stamp issue, which includes a series of really interesting stamp designs that show each country's scientific efforts in the Arctic regions. POST Greenland's 2 IPY stamps are engraved by Martin Morck from Norway, and one of the designs is the artwork of Naja Abelsen from Greenland.

EUROPA-series 2007: Scouting
POST Greenland resumes issuing of stamps in this popular series, initiated by PostEurop. This year's joint theme is Scouting. In 1907 the world's first scouting group was founded, which makes 2007 the 100-year-anniversary. This is celebrated by all the countries participating in this stamp issue, each with their own unique design representing their own scouting movement. The two beautiful Greenlandic stamps in this issue are the stamp debut work of Nuka K. Godtfredsen.

Lick and Taste Chinese stamps

New South Georgia stamps
A new set of stamps entitled Mapping is to be issued by the South Georgia Post Office on 5 January.
The issue will consist of two se-tenant pairs; the 50p pair will depict both the 1958 and 2003 maps of the Neumayer Glacier whilst the 60p pair show the Theodolite Kern DKM1 surveying equipment with the 1958 map in the background and the Landsat 7 Satellite.

Canada Post welcomes the Year of the Pig with fortunate stamps
From February 18, 2007 to February 6, 2008, it will be the pig's turn to rule the Chinese zodiac. To mark the arrival of the Year of the Pig, Canada Post will issue, on January 5, 2007, a stamp and a special souvenir sheet. The single stamp will reflect the new domestic rate of 52 cents, while the stamp on the souvenir sheet will carry the new international rate of $1.55. The new postage rates take effect on January 15, 2007.
