Easy as ABC
Polish Post are to issue a new set of stamps on 29 September entitled "Polish Alphabet". 13 stamps will make up the issue, each featuring a letter from the first half of the alphabet, with the remaining letters appearing on another 13 stamps due to be released on 7 November.

China-Austria joint issue: 'Piano'

Danish Stamp Issues on 10 November 2006
COBRA is the name of an international group of artists founded in Paris in 1948. Its founding members included the Danish painter Asger Jorn, the Dutch painter Constant and the Belgian poet Christian Dotremont. The aim of COBRA was to create a basis for co-operation between painters and writers from Denmark, Belgium and the Netherlands. The acronym "COBRA" was formed from the first letters of Copenhagen, Brussels and Amsterdam.

150th Anniversary of the Victoria Cross Stamps Issued
To mark the 150th anniversary of the first Victoria Cross, Royal Mail has issued a set of commemorative stamps, remembering six of the heroic soldiers that received the award. The stamps are issued in se-tenant pairs with an account of the recipients’ brave actions written in the background, and are available in a variety of products including a Presentation Pack and a unique Miniature Sheet.

Telephony in Iceland 100 Anniversary
In 1861 the Icelandic Althing passed a bill authorizing the laying of a submarine telephone cable to Iceland and its use for 90 years. The bill was not confirmed by the king of Denmark and Iceland had to wait for the telephone for many decades.

Canada Post Introduces New Stamp with Lasting Appeal! Pennywise Canadians to benefit from new PERMANENT stamp
Canada Post today announced the introduction of a new non-denominated stamp that will retain its value forever. The PERMANENT stamp will be accepted at the basic domestic Lettermail rate and replaces next year's 52 cents domestic rate definitive stamps. The PERMANENT stamp will eliminate the need to purchase 1 cent stamps after a rate increase, doing away with the need for Canadians to worry about 'using up' postage stamps before a rate increase takes effect.

Animal Tracks - Stories in the Sand
More than mere impressions in the soil of a hoof or paw, animal tracks tell an intricate story about their makers. The art of reading animal tracks are becoming extinct as people move away from their traditional ways towards a western way of life. To create awareness of today's need for skilled trackers in eco tourism, the South African Post Office issued a set of stamps and two commemorative covers, showing animal tracks as well as the animals that make them.

Maritime Post
In these days of instant communication it is difficult to conceive the difficulties that existed regarding mail communication 200 years ago. After Gibraltar came under the British crown in 1704, mail was carried by ships whose Masters agreed to carry packets. However over one hundred years later, the Gibraltar Packet Service was created and commenced in July 1806. The first Gibraltar marks on letters were then introduced by the Packet Agency.

Motorbikes - KTM R 125 Tarzan
The KTM Tarzan, named after the jungle hero who overcame all obstacles to reach his aim, was the first sports motorcycle to be produced in series at the Mattighofen plant in Upper Austria. It was developed on the basis of the established Grand Tourist, and went into production in 1957 in the colours red, black and silver.

Austria: Cars - Steyr 220
After World War I, the Austrian weapons factory in Steyr, founded by Josef and Franz Werndl in 1964 and now part of the Magna Group, was forbidden by the Treaty of Versailles to produce weapons. To save the works, the decision was made to switch to the manufacture of motor vehicles, a successful move that was soon followed in 1920 by the first Steyr car off the production line.
