Celebrating 100 years of mapping
On Friday, June 30, Canada Post will issue a single domestic rate (51 cents) stamp to commemorate the 100th anniversary of The Atlas of Canada. The stamp will be unveiled at GeoTec, the largest geospatial technology event ever held in Canada, on June 19. The conference takes place in Ottawa, from June 18 to 21, 2006.

Canada Post launches new stamps honoring the Snowbirds

Born around 980, Hemma lost her parents at an early age, and was adopted by Emperor Heinrich II and his wife Kunigunde, who took her to the imperial court in Bamberg. Hungary celebrate stamp day
Hungary Post celebrate Stamp Day on 23 June with the issue of two new stamps and a miniature sheet. The stamps depict four frescoes dating back to around 1490 whilst the sheet features images of Szentendre cathedral, also known as Belgrade church as it was largely built by descendents from the Serbian capital.

New US issue to pack a punch. Super Heroes to feature on new stamps
USPS will issue a new set of twenty stamps on 20 July featuring a selection of DC Comics Super Heroes.
Ten of the stamps will depict portraits of the super heroes in action, whilst the other ten stamps will feature covers taken from the comics each character appears in.

Whale mail... Canada Post recognizes 50th anniversary of the Vancouver Aquarium
On June 15, Canada Post will issue a single domestic rate (51 cents) stamp to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Vancouver Aquarium. This centre is the nation's largest aquarium, and is home to more than 70,000 animals, from translucent jellyfish to Arctic beluga, tropical piranhas and Pacific salmon. In all, there are some 265 fish species, 237 invertebrate species, and 48 reptile and amphibian species, along with more than 20 marine mammal and bird species.

From 1968 to 1973, Jim Clark was the most successful Formula 1 driver with 25 Grand Prix victories. He was World Champion twice, in 1963 and 1965. Clark, a Scotsman, was born on March 3, 1936, and began his career with the Lotus team at the age of 20 and morally committed to this marque until his death on April 7 1968 in a crash in a Formula 2 race.
