Luxembourg Post unveil a selection of new issues on 6 December, including this year's Christmas stamp.
A set of four stamps celebrating popular sports including tennis, basketball, judo and figure skating will also be released, as well as a stamp highlighting the great help guide dogs provide to the visually impaired.

Fan wants Jack Benny honored on 39-cent stamp
The number 39 has been in the news lately because the US Postal Service plans to raise the price of a first-class stamp to 39 cents.
And Laura Leff of Oakland, California, thinks a good way to mark that change would be to issue a 39-cent stamp in honor of America's most famous 39-year-old.

A 'Forever' Stamp
Some good news has come along with the bad news that it soon will cost 39 cents, instead of the present 37 cents, to mail a one-ounce letter. The U.S. Postal Service is studying a proposal to offer a "forever" or "perpetual" stamp, which could be used regardless of future postage increases.

Stamp of the Year 2005
Stamp collectors worldwide have voted for the most beautiful Greenland stamp of the year 2005. It is the stamp "Ilulissat Icefiord", which was issued by POST Greenland on January 17, 2005 to acknowledge that the magnificent natural region in West Greenland - the Ilulissat Icefiord - was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Monaco: National Day Triptych
The Palace where the Princes are living, a symbol of the Principality, overhangs two areas, "Fontvieille" to the West, built on the sea, as well as "La Condamine" and "Monte-Carlo", to the East, older districts, with the port and the Casino. They also have been modernized with the new dyke and the coastal works. This triptych follows the one issued in 2005 with the two Princes next to the Palace. The theme of the National Day on the margin reminds the beginning of H.S.H. the Prince Albert II Reign.

800 years of the Teutonic Order in Austria
Vienna has been the headquarters of the Order of the Teutonic Knights and hence the residence of the Grand Master since 1809. The "Deutsche Haus", housing the Order's central archives, the Gothic Church of the Teutonic Knights and a museum, is directly behind St. Steven's Cathedral.

Monaco: 'Salle Garnier' Mini-sheet
Charles GARNIER is a renowned architect who built the Paris Opera House; many financial difficulties interrupted the achievement and the Prince of Monaco brought his help. To thank Him, Charles GARNIER drew the Casino and decorated the Monte-Carlo's Opera. Its has been entirely restored by the "Societe des Bains de Mer", preserving the four frescoes of the ceiling, a detail of which illustrates the stamps.

Monaco: Block 'Homage to Prince Rainier III'
The Prince Rainier III, Who was born on May 31st 1923, acceded to the Throne in 1949 when his father, Prince Louis II died. The "Builder Prince" changes the Principality landscape while increasing its area (from 1,4 to 1,95 km2) with platforms on the sea. The "Boss" wanted an economic diversification of Monaco and the tertiary sector is the first one of a Principality that is recognized as a financial place.

Four Distinguished Marines saluted on U.S. postage stamps
Gen. Michael W. Hagee, Commandant of the Marine Corps, and John E. Potter, Postmaster General of the United States Postal Service, unveiled the Distinguished Marines commemorative 37-cent U.S. Postage stamps at Marine Barracks Washington on the 230th Birthday of the Marine Corps, Nov. 10. Austria: Narnia
Walt Disney Pictures/Walden Media will release their latest fantasy film called "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" in early December, just in time to kindle some Christmas spirit. The film is a new adaptation of the classic fantasy story by Clive Staples Lewis (1898-1963). The film, directed by the director of Shrek, Andrew Adamson, will be in cinemas December 8, 2005 and will delight parents and children alike.

Iceland: Birds
Graylag (Anser anser) lays its eggs on lowland all around Iceland and is the most common species of geese in the country. A count of graylag in Scotland early in the nineties revealed that the majority of the Icelandic stocks sojourn in Scotland during winter. The population was estimated at 80.000 individuals. They depart for their winter quarters late in October.

Legendary Marine hero commemorated with postage stamp
Gunnery Sgt. John Basilone will be honored with a commemorative postage stamp, recognizing the World War II hero as one of four distinguished Marines who served with outstanding bravery and honor during the 20th Century. The stamp will be issued on Nov. 10 during a ceremony held at Marine Barracks Washington at 1 p.m.
