Tall Ships Race Commemorated
A new set of stamps will be issued on 4th July by AN Post to mark the annual Cutty Sark Tall Ships Race which begins on 6th July in Waterford, Ireland and ends in Fredrikstad, Norway on 3rd August.

Gibraltar: Cruise liners 05
The ships that have been illustrated on the stamps are the Circassia; an established caller to the Rock during the 1950's, the Nevasa; a frequent visitor to Gibraltar during the 1960's and 1970's, the Black Prince; a familiar sight at the Rock during the 1990's and finally the Arcadia; the newest ship from P & O Cruises which coincidentally is also the largest cruise ship built specifically for the British market and visited the Rock for the first time on the 27th May 2005.

Audrey Hepburn to star at Naposta
A stamp, estimated at a value of 20,000 euro, will be the "star" exhibit at Naposta '05. Discovered in 2004 by a Bavarian collector, this celebrated postage stamp, featuring a portrait of the actress Audrey Hepburn, should never have been released—the Hepburn heirs objected to the stamp just before the issue date in 2001 and it was withdrawn by Deutsche Post before being released as reported previously in GSM (Newsdesk, February 2005).

Hungary: Europa 2005 - Gastronomy
The stamp design features a Hungarian speciality, chicken paprika with dumplings. The four stamps comprising the sheet form a laid table. On the edges of the sheet other gastronomic motifs can be seen. The graphics on the first day cover complement and complete the motifs on the edges of the miniature sheet, while the special postmark shows a wooden spoon.

South African Landscapes
Maggie Laubser (1886-1973) – Table Mountain (1924), oil on canvas: Laubser's approach to landscape revealed her belief in the spiritual unity of all created things. Her rural childhood and her experience of the seasons and cycles of farm life permeate much of her art. Following her exposure to modern painting during her studies in Germany, she returned to South Africa in 1924 painting in a style where bold forms and colours were used towards emotional and expressive ends.
