Taking cardiac care to heart... Canada Post celebrates 50 years of care by the Montreal Heart Institute
When the Montreal Heart Institute opened its doors in 1954, a heart attack usually meant, at best, a long hospital stay, an even longer rehabilitation period and a lifetime of worry. Today, thanks in large part to the Institute's world-renowned research, heart attacks can now be prevented before they occur, hospital stays are measured in days and most patients continue to live life to its fullest. Canada Post is proud to mark the Montreal Heart Institute's 50th anniversary with a new stamp to be issued on September 15, 2004.

Ernst Happel – an Austrian footballing legend
Ernst Happel was born on November 29, 1925, and began his footballing career in 1938 with Rapid Vienna, his regular team until 1958 with the exception of a two-year stay with Racing Paris (1954 – 1956). Six times national champion, one Cup victory and 51 caps with the national team were proof of his unequalled skills. As one of very few footballers, he took part in two World Cups (1954 in Switzerland and 1958 in Sweden). One of the highlights of his playing career was his inclusion in the FIFA selection for a game against England.
