The campaign and collection launched in 2007 to preserve and foster cultural treasures with a close link to Switzerland's key historical transport routes is continuing in 2008, in response to a proven need to protect these vital monuments to bygone architecture and travel. Swiss Post is issuing four special stamps in support of Pro Patria's work.

Malta: Europa 2008 - Letters
The MaltaPost Philatelic Bureau announces the issue of the EUROPA 2008 stamp issue entitled LETTERS. The stamps, with face values of Euro 0.37 (Lm0.16c), Euro 1.19 (Lm0.51c) are 48.0mm x 39.5mm in size, with a perforation of 14.0 x 14.0 (comb). The stamps are available in sheets of ten.

Coin and Flag Series 2008
On 8 May 2008, the United Nations Postal Administration (UNPA) will continue its Coin and Flag Series by releasing 24 new stamps in the denominations of US$ 0.41, CHF 0,85 and 0,65. Three mini-sheets of eight stamps each will be released.

Switzerland: Europa - Letters
This year, the Europa stamp has been designed in honour of the letter. PostEurop, the umbrella organization for the large European postal authorities sets a different theme for the stamp each year. The individual members - including Swiss Post - can then apply this theme as they wish.

Experience a movie on a real stamp!
Austrian Post is to release a revolutionary lenticular stamp to celebrate the UEFA EURO 2008. The new stamp goes on sale on 5 May 2008.
48 images of a TV recording are superposed on the stamp. To the viewer, the optical effect is that of a film sequence of approx. 3 minutes.
The stamp features the legendary goal scored by Andi Herzog, Austria's record-breaking international player.

Letter from a Sailor's Wife

Every Time a Bell Rings... Another Forever Stamp is Sold
Demand for the Forever Stamp continues to increase as the May 12 stamp price change approaches. In the past several weeks, Postal Service customers have been buying Forever Stamps at a rate of about 30 million per day, bringing the amount sold to more than 6 billion since they were first offered in April 2007.

Iceland: 'Europa' Letters
On 8 May, Iceland Post will issue its Europa postage stamps following PostEurop's chosen theme for 2008 - 'The Letter'.
The stamp motifs symbolize an exchange of letters between a little girl and her grandfather. The designer, Orn Smari Gislason, states that behind these motifs there is an interesting little story.

Art on stamps and stamp art
On 9 May, 17 new stamps will come out in five separate issues. One new stamp will have a value of 1.50, and all the others will bear postage equivalent to that of a 1st class letter in Finland.
The stamps will feature art by Sam Vanni, Goran Augustson, Carolus Enckell and Kimmo Kaivanto. The theme for the EUROPA stamps is the letter. Finland's stamps depict artist Pekka Halonen and his wife, Maija, writing letters. The stamps also show portrait art by Pekka Halonen.

Norway Stamp Marks Oslo Opera House Opening

Austria Honors Traditional Attire

Bletchley Park goes Bang Bang
On 1st June Chitty Chitty Bang Bang flies into Bletchley Park. Ian Fleming's magical car will be where its creator once helped to crack the Enigma code during World War Two. Aland Scenery: Langvikshagen, Lumparland
Lumparland is the smallest municipality on main Aland. Amidst the broken ground and idyllic pastureland, the photographer Erkki Santamala has chosen a peaceful birch grove for his Lumparland stamp.

Canada's Game Comes Home
